Pre-Assessments/Gap Analysis

A Gap Analysis is highly effective in the implementation stage of preparing for ISO 9001 certification and can also be useful if you are unsure as to whether you should pursue the certification.

A thorough Gap Analysis will determine how much of your company is currently compliant with ISO 9001:2008 requirements.  Perhaps your company already has its own quality system and would like to perform a litmus test against ISO 9001?  The result of the Gap Analysis will have a large impact on the extent of the implementation project and the project timelines.

Performing a Gap Analysis will likely require the input from different departments and employees.  You’ll want to ensure you inform these departments and employees about ISO 9001:2008 before you perform the Gap Analysis.

Stage 1 – Document Review Gap Analysis

To get the most value out of our Gap Analysis, it is best if the client creates a “paper pile” of any existing policies, procedures, work instructions and forms before the start of the gap audit.  Once statusGO is engaged, we will:

  • Review the document pile
  • Assess the gaps in the documentation by comparing against the ISO 9001:2008 Standard
  • Record the findings in the Gap Audit Report
Stage 2 – On-Site Gap Analysis

During the document review, statusGO conducts an on-site assessment of the existing processes against the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 Standard. A detailed report is prepared by statusGO and includes the following information:
  • The requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 Standard
  • The findings for each requirement of the ISO 9001:2008 Standard
  • Recommended action, with sample forms, to satisfy the requirements in the Standard
  • During the audit, the ISO 9001 Specialist works with the appropriate ISO Implementation Team member from your organization to discuss the ISO 9001:2008 requirements and the various options to meet the requirements
